Section 2: PvP Leagues — Overview & Rules
Great League (CP ≤ 1,500) - CP cap of 1,500 — the most restrictive and widely played league format - Rewards bulk, energy efficiency, and move pressure over raw damage output - The most accessible league for new players, yet the most demanding for IV optimization - Low Attack IVs are often preferred to allow Pokémon to reach a higher level under the cap, maximizing Defense and HP Ultra League (CP ≤ 2,500) - CP cap of 2,500 — the middle tier, bridging accessibility and power - Slightly more forgiving on IVs compared to Great League - XL Candy becomes important for many top picks that need to reach Level 41+ to hit their optimal stat product under the cap - Legendary Pokémon begin to appear at this tier
Master League (No CP Cap)
- No CP cap — Legendary and Mythical Pokémon dominate at maximum CP - Perfect IVs (15/15/15) are optimal here — there is no penalty for high Attack as there is in capped leagues - The most expensive league to build for, requiring massive Stardust and XL Candy investment - Shadows and Megas carry enormous weight at this tier Premier Cup Variants - Limited versions of each league that exclude Legendary and Mythical Pokémon - Makes non-legendary investments significantly more rewarding - Often rotates to include additional restrictions (e.g., Premier Classic, which excludes XL-powered Pokémon)
